About me

I’m Miriam, a freelance writer here at Idealhome.co.uk, the UK’s leading interiors website.

I’m worked across a number of women’s lifestyle brands during my four years at TI Media Limited and have found that writing about interiors comes naturally to me.

After being brought up on a TV diet of property shows including Grand Designs, Location, Location, Location and Escape to The Country ,it was only a matter of time before I put virtual pen to paper and began honing my writing prowess to homes.

And when it comes to sources of inspiration for the content I write, I’m spoilt for choice living in the capital. From stunning architecture right the way through to eye-catching department store window displays, there’s always an angle to be found that can translate to our abodes.

My Ideal Home

18 months ago I bought my own 'ideal home', a spacious one-bed flat in a leafy part of southwest London. The flat’s décor is still evolving but includes a coastal-themed living room – a stripy blue and white IKEA sofa taking centre stage – and a grey/copper and blush scheme in the bedroom inspired by Pinterest.

Some key prints from Etsy have also helped to liven up spaces where I don’t have the budget/bravery to completely transform – i.e. the kitchen.

My favourite places to shop

I love to shop around when it comes to interiors purchases and am not a slave to one particular brand – if it works for my home and is in budget, it’s going in my shopping basket. Saying that I’m a big fan of supermarket home brands and have snapped up items from Sainbury’s Home and George Home.

A favourite piece in my home is white and wood floor lamp from Marks and Spencer. It’s really timeless and it’s the kind of buy that I’ll definitely take with me when I get onto the next rung of the property ladder.
