Annie Collyer
Annie Collyer is Deputy Ecommerce Editor at Ideal Home and has been writing for the brand since 2021. After achieving a First Class Honors degree in Journalism, Annie's first dive into writing was for an online lifestyle title chatting about all things London and what to do and see in the capital. From there, she landed the job as Deals Editor on Real Homes in 2018. Ever since she has spent her time advising readers when it comes to what to buy for their homes, also offering guidance when it comes to what time of the year to shop, too. Whilst not forgetting, of course, the budding question of where to actually do the shopping, and what to buy. Annie has done her fair share of product testing in her time at Future, so it's safe to say that she can spot the good from the bad, whether that's a mattress, a BBQ, a mop or even a handy home organizer.
Ideal Home truths
Where’s your happy place?
I have two happy places: first of all my home. I share a 2-bedroom flat in South East London with my husband-to-be and my pug, Doug. We've been slowly but surely renovating the place to put our own stamp on it. The second would have to be in a swimming pool (indoors or out, I'm totally not fussy).
What’s your home addiction?
I'm slightly obsessed with charity shops. There's just something about finding a bargain that you never even knew you'd been looking for but you absolutely need. I once found a Le Creuset pan in a charity shop for £4.99 and it was from there that my Volcanic Orange collection has grown.
What is your next home project?
We need to finish the bathroom (just a few small finishing touches there) but otherwise it's definitely going to be the garden. We need to jet wash the patio and I'm thinking of painting it lighter, too. We've got grass to lay at one corner and we're staining our gorgeous pergola to make it look brand new once the lashings of wisteria that sit atop it have (sadly) gone for 2022.
