A 19th century carriage house in Greenwich Village that was rented by Kate Moss when she and Johnny Depp were an item back in the mid 1990s has hit the market – and the headlines
They were, we think it’s fair to say, the most beautiful celebrity
couple ever. When Johnny met Kate in the 1990s, a fairy tale was born.
Stories abounded of wild parties and bathing in champagne (we believed
every word…) and we loved it (while it lasted).
we heard their former New York bolt hole was up for rent through Keller Williams for a very
reasonable $19,000 (£11,412) a month, our interest was piqued.
19th century Carriage House in Waverly Place, Greenwich Village, has
an incredible living room, the 25ft-high ceiling topped with a
skylight to ensure cheekbones are highlighted at all times.
The glossy kitchen is open-plan to the living area, a lick of gold paint taking the classic New York tin ceiling tiles from
urban grit to celeb glitz.
The units, from luxury kitchen company Boffi, make for a glossy cooking space, though how many actual meals were made in
there is anybody’s guess.
The private courtyard garden, on two levels, is described as spacious, which of course it is for anyone with supermodel hips. We can only imagine the famous encounters that must have taken place there…
There are (count ’em) almost two whole bedrooms (one is on a mezzanine above the kitchen). The master has a glorious ‘floating’ bath, should you have any champagne or asses milk knocking about, while the exposed brick and concrete adds an urban edge to the luxury.
The apartment has two bathrooms. We presume Kate and Johnny made the most of the double basins and steam shower (or steamy shower? Steady..)
By 1998 the fairy tale was over and Kate Moss and Johnny Depp sadly went their separate ways, leaving the Waverly Street apartment for mere mortals to enjoy.
