And you thought you decorated your home elaborately... wait until you see this
You may remember Christine McConnell from October when her
eerie Halloween home went viral due to its elaborately macabre decorations.
She is America’s modern day domestic goddess – perfecting amazing (and we mean utterly marvellous) bakes, creating beautiful artwork and snapping stunning photographs, but everything, EVERYTHING has a creepy twist…
Well, you can imagine how excited we were when we saw her giant Christmas Gingerbread House…
Inspired by her favourite fairytale, Hansel and Gretel, Christine set to work combining enchanting ideas from the food fuelled tale and the traditional Christmas gingerbread house.
The result is a delicious den of glossy, swirly wirly candy canes, crunchy gingerbread men and trickling icing.
Speaking to us about her creation, Christine said: “This was probably the hardest project I’ve ever tackled, but I’m so happy with it.”
And so would we be if we lived in an edible den!
The project took Christine over 105 hours to complete in seven gruelling 15-hour days. She remembers that ‘the net for the roof was the most difficult part’ but the result is a sweet-studded stunner that was worth every minute.
As a professional photographer and designer, Christine created costumes for herself and her nieces to make it look like a scene straight out of Hansel and Gretel’s tempting forest when she photographed her home.
But of course her fascination with the ominous has reared its creepy head even in her cheery Christmas design.
The windows are dusted in icing sugar reminiscent of snow (or cobwebs!) and the giant gingerbread men are running to save their delicious limbs from a terrifying bite.
Bravo Christine, we applaud you once again and cannot wait to see what you pull out of the hat at Easter…
